Happy birthday Krishan (from your Aunty Kamu Masi). Every part of me has ached for the last nineteen years, wishing I could actually say those words to you. Wishing I could say any words to you. Wishing I could see you and cuddle you.

It’s a glorious hot summers day. Now at five months pregnant, the morning sickness is still going strong. I remember it was the same while pregnant with Rakhi – I just could not stop being sick, until well into my third trimester.

Each year, I think long and hard about which memory of my son I am ready to share with my world. This year, it was a very easy decision…today (8th Nov. 2018) is Ankut – the Hindu New Year. We are at the height of Diwali celebrations, a very joyous time of the year for many of my family and friends, and for me too!

Saturday 11th November 2006 – Alone in the room of the post natal ward, looking out from the hospital window to awake and find a bright, crisp, Autumn Saturday morning. After the storm in the night we have just been through HOW can it be such a beautiful morning?…

Wednesday 15th November 2006 – I force myself awake this morning and struggle to step out of bed. With the thought of the day ahead of me, I close my eyes again and wish I fall back into deep sleep, but I don’t.
